5 Budget Travel Plan
5 Affordable Destinations 🛬
Big bank balance is not always required when travelling. Actually, I had some of the best trips even with a very limited budget. I can recall how I used to travel by bus on the weekend with only a backpack and some snacks and about Rs.2000 in my pocket. It helped me remember that it is the experience that matters when you are traveling rather than hotels or even costly restaurants.
And, in case you possess a dream to learn new places, but you do not want to spend a lot, this list is what will suit you best. These are the top 10 cheap places to travel in 2025, no matter whether you are a student, a solo-traveler, or someone who is saving money and still wants to have an adventure.
1. Bali, Indonesia
Bali may appear to be a costly destination, but it can be quite cheap provided that you are not stupid about it. One can find clean hostels, tasty street foods and inexpensive scooters to travel to the beaches, rice terraces and temples. However, in making a comparison between not going to the fancy resorts and visiting the local resorts, the island of Bali will actually become very cheap especially at the low season.
Budget Tick: Eat small meals in the local restaurants (warungs) and ride scooter, not taxi.
2. Vietnam
Vietnam is one of the lowest cost countries in Asia. It all appears to be cheap, even the food in the street in Hanoi, and the tranquil riverside town Hoi An. In the majority of the countries, the pho (noodle soup) will cost less than a cup of coffee! Vietnam will leave you with a lot of stuff without emptying your pockets whether you are a mountain person or a beach person or a culture city person.
Budget Hack: Use the overnight buses/trains in order to save money on travelling in addition to accommodation.
3. Nepal
In the event that you are a mountain lover, appreciate peace of nature, and peaceful setting, Nepal is the place to be. The primary reason why most of the tourists flock Nepal is the beautiful Himalayas and even the beautiful cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara are located in Nepal, at very low prices. I was personally of the opinion that Nepal had a warm welcoming environment. You will even stay in the simplest of homesteads.
Budget Tip: The best form of accommodation in trekking is local guesthouses (tea houses) which are cheap and authentic.
4. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a tiny beautiful and very cheap. It is possible to spend the same trip in beaches, wildlife, tea plantations and ancient temples. KandyElla train is a fantasy train and very cheap. The food is also good and most attractions readily available.
Budget Tip: Ride the local bus or train rather than riding the private cabs.
5. Thailand
Thailand is a status of a traditional low-cost destination. Bangkok is a colorful city of night, Chiang Mai is a city that offers a little picturesque mountain and the tropical islands of the south are known to have the most beautiful beaches of the Asian continent. There is great food, hospitable people and cheap hotels practically everywhere. Thailand is not a surprise as a destination of the backpacker.
Budget Tip: Locate a hostel that offers free breakfast so that you can use the additional cash.
